In Due Time!

20130401-102828.jpg
Ask God…to help you humble yourself. Oooh…that just doesn’t sound fun does it? Well…then ask Him to lift you up. Okay Brenda, I can probably do that since that sounds like it will benefit me. But humbling sounds like it might make me give up something that I like to do or it might make me admit that I was wrong and they were right.

What we don’t realize that when we humble ourselves we are casting our cares on God! The God that can actually do something about whatever concerns us wants to hear from us! God gave me this verse this morning and I know it was from Him because I have a heavy heart about something that I care very deeply about and really He is the only one that can do anything about it. It’s His mighty hand that can change it! In HIS DUE TIME!!

My prayer today is that I will humble myself and my concerns under the Mighty Hand of God! I trust that He in His due time will answer my prayers!! That He will do it in a way that He will be exalted and glorified!! I pray that Revival comes!

Vs 7 says “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” In my case, I am not really anxious about this situation, I am just burdened by it! No matter, if you are going through something that you are anxious about or that you just have heavy on your heart, God cares! Humble yourself and lift it up to Him and He will in turn lift you up! He hears your prayers! He cares!!

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. (1 Peter 5:6 NIV)

“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”)

Make it a Good Friday for Someone Today!!

Ask God..to use you! This is a prayer that I have been praying for years. I want God to use me! I WANT God to use ME!! I realized that it is not about what God can do for me but what can I do for God. I used to pray…”help me God”, “give me God”! “I need this or that God!” But it wasn’t until my prayers changed from “all about me” to “all about God” that my heart started changing to wanting to be used by God. I took the focus off me and my needs and started putting my focus on who God really is! I realized that the God that created the Universe cares about me and wants a relationship with me. The God of glory loves me and He loves you! God doesn’t need me to accomplish His plans but He lets me be a part of what He is planning! He gave me purpose! Have you ever heard that if you are helping other people, that it will actually help you as you go through a difficult circumstance. It is so true! When you are helping someone else you temporarily forget about the issues or circumstances in your own life. It gives you a feeling of goodness, kindness and brings a peace that is only from The Lord! So…look around today and ask God to give you opportunities to help someone! Then listen for Him to whisper in your ear and speak to your heart about what you can do! Then is the big step…DO IT!! We have good intentions sometimes and say that “I am going to do______________________” but we fail to carry it out many times! It’s Good Friday!! What can you do to make it a Good Friday for someone today? Let God use you!

I wish you all a blessed and Good Friday!

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Philippians 2:3, 4 NIV)

“Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” (Romans 12:13 NIV)

The Power!!

20130327-085606.jpg
Ask God…for His power! What do you need God’s power for today? Do you need His power just to face your day? Maybe, you have a hard day ahead of you and just don’t know what you are going to do. Seek the power of the Cross! There is power in the Cross! There is freedom in the Cross! Seek it! Seek strength! Seek courage! Seek hope! Seek peace! Seek the salvation that only comes from the Cross! God stands ready to come to your defense when you come to Him with a heart that is fully surrendered!! A heart that wakes up saying, “I need you God! I am nothing without you!” He wants to save you from not only your sin, but He wants to save you from the fear that you face. But…we have to put our eyes on the Cross! Instead, many times we are fearful and are looking at the problem through our own power and how we can fix it, instead of looking at our problem through faith and how God can fix it. Have you asked God today to calm your fears and go before you? Have you prayed? The power of the Cross gives us the power of prayer! When Jesus died on the cross over 2000 years ago He made a way to call on His power and to have a relationship with the Creator of the World! If God has the power to create the World and to create you and me then He has the power to handle whatever concerns you today!! Seek His power!! Seek the power of the Cross!! The liberating, redeeming power of the Cross!!

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18 NIV)

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” (Romans 1:16 NIV)

What’s the Next Step?

Ask God…to lead the way. So…what’s the next step? Where is He leading you? Don’t we all wish sometimes we could know what the next 10 years of our life would look like?

“They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid.” (Mark 10:32a NIV)

Is Jesus leading the way in your life? It says that some were astonished and some were afraid. Are you astonished or afraid right now in your own life? Can you say to yourself and to God “I don’t know what the next step is God. But, I will follow!” What is next Lord? I want You God to lead the way! Jesus was on His way to His death on the cross. He knew what was ahead of Him and was even telling the Disciples. He walked right into the “next” in His life! Death on a Cross! He walked right through to the other side of death which was LIFE! Eternal life for you and for me!

He knows what is ahead of you too! Give us your courage Lord! If it is suffering Lord, I pray you will LEAD us through it Lord and help us not be afraid. If it is joy, I pray you will lead us through it and help us Lord to stand astonished and in awe of your glory!

Sometimes, we get fearful of the unknown. Not knowing what lies before us. It was especially hard after going through a divorce. I didn’t know what my life was going to be like. I had been married the last 23 years of my life. That was more than half of my life. All of my adult life. Then I found myself single again. With 2 kids. It was at that time in my life that the concept that God was not only my Father, but that God could be my husband. I was totally dependent on Him. I didn’t have anybody else that I could really depend on. He became my husband! He became my EVERYTHING!!

I love the song that is out right now by Chris Tomlin, called “Whom Shall I Fear”. The chorus says:
“Whom shall I fear,
I know Who goes before me
I know Who stands behind
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side.”

This is so true for a follower of Jesus because God does go before us and is leading the way and He is standing behind us ready to catch us when we fall. He is ALWAYS by my side! Even when we are afraid of what the next step is, or the unknown future; God is there leading us and walking through it with us!

We sometimes decide in our own minds what we want to happen and try to plan it all out. But is it God’s plans for you? Don’t let yourself get ahead of God. Let Him lead you and then watch in astonishment all the wonders and glories that He has prepared for you!

“For your Maker is your husband— the Lord Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.” (Isaiah 54:5 NIV)

“The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1 NIV)

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV)

Do You Really Love Me?

20130319-093638.jpg
Ask God…do you love me? Do you REALLY LOVE ME? As a woman we need to hear the words “I love you!” Sometimes, it is just because we are feeling discouraged and just need to have the confirmation that we are loved. We want to hear it from our husbands and we want to hear from our kids. I love you, honey! I love you mom! If we are single and are in love, we want to hear it from our boyfriends! We just love to hear that we are loved! It doesn’t necessarily mean you are not confident in your love from others. We just love to hear it! We love…LOVE!! We need…LOVE!! Oh the precious words…I LOVE YOU!

We are relational people and God made us in His image! He is relational and He knows that we need love! He is the greatest lover of all! But yet maybe you are going through a real difficult time right now and you doubt the love of the ONE that created you. Have you? Have you ever wondered if God REALLY loves YOU? Why would bad things happen if He really loves me? Why would He let me go through this if He really loves me? Why would He not answer my prayer the way I want it answered?

I had a time in my life that I did question and I can honestly say that it was during that time of doubt that God revealed His love to me and drew me even closer to Him! See….I did cry out! I cried out to God….”God if you love me, why is this happening?”
I asked Him to me show me His love! I searched the scriptures and God gave me this precious verse that I call one of my favorites! In Jeremiah 31:3 God says He loves YOU “with an EVERLASTING love”! He loves ME with an EVERLASTING love! There is no one else in your lifetime that will love you like He does!!

We may not always understand why things happen the way they do, but no matter what you are going through HIS LOVE will carry you through…if you let Him!! This too shall pass! There is life after suffering! There is nothing too hard for God to handle! He is telling you today…”I LOVE YOU my precious daughter!” “I am here for you my precious child!” “Tell Me, you LOVE ME!” “Praise My name today!” He desires to hear it too!!

My love and my hope comes from The Lord! He loves me with an everlasting love! A love that will never leave me, will never hurt me, will always be faithful to me! He is GOD!! Praise Him and thank Him for His love! His love is enough for today! He is drawing you to Him with His unfailing kindness! He loves YOU with an everlasting love! Everlasting and for always!! This is the love of Jesus!!

“The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3 NIV)

Hypocrites in the Church

20130318-111100.jpg
Ask God…to help you everyday to walk the walk. Are you for real? Are you who you are when you are out in public the same person that you are when nobody is watching?
Christians have so many times been given the title of “Hypocrite”, of being fake. Are you saying one thing and living a different way? We cannot go to Church on Sunday and act all “Christ like” and then on Monday go back into the workplace or back into school and be a jerk to someone or use bad language. You can’t be lying to your friends and family and cheating on taxes or tests, or on your spouse or boyfriend and then ask God to bless your day. This is what gives not only you a bad name but gives Christ a bad name.

Living for Christ is a 24 hr/7 days a week lifestyle! Unfortunately some people that say they are Christians really may have never TRULY surrendered their life to Jesus. So…if they haven’t truly given their life to Jesus, they haven’t been changed from the inside out and they don’t know any better. They are just trying to act the part instead of it being a real life change. We can’t judge those people, we need to pray for them that God changes them. If they are in Church and are hearing God’s Word then maybe God will change their hearts. There are hypocrites in Church but at least they are in Church! Don’t let those people deter you from being what God wants you to be. All we really need to be concerned with is how we are reflecting the name of Jesus! Are you exalting and glorifying His name by your words and actions? Don’t point your finger at others because when you do there are three fingers pointing back at you. Whew…. Help us Lord to clean up our own backyards!!

So…ask yourself are you the same today as you were yesterday. Have you clothed yourself with the attributes of Christ? Have you sat at the feet of Jesus today? Are you listening to what He is saying to you? We are not called to be perfect but we are called to be Christlike. We have to fill ourselves up daily with more of Him so there is less of us.

I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be giving my precious Lord a bad name. I want people to know how good and kind and loving He is. You may be the only Jesus that someone sees today. How are they going to see Him?

“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:5-10, 12-14, 17 NIV)

Heal Me…O Lord!!

20130314-085921.jpg

Ask God…to heal you! As I sit here this morning with my journal and praying to my sweet Lord a verse came to me that I prayed over and over again at a time in my life when I needed God’s healing. Jeremiah 17:14 says, “Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” Now, as I have shared before I had Breast cancer 27 years ago, but this wasn’t the time that God gave me this special verse. It was when I was going through my divorce 10 years ago. After being married for 23 years it felt like my heart had literally been ripped apart. The emotional pain of divorce was even greater than the physical pain of cancer. It is a different kind of hurt. Either way God is a God that wants to heal you!

I would pray this verse over and over and over…”Heal ME O Lord and I WILL be HEALED, save ME O Lord and I WILL be saved! I believed in my heart that God would heal my heart of the pain that I was feeling. But, we can’t stop there and just ask God to heal us. The last part of this verse says, “for you are the one I praise”.

God wants to heal you, but more than just heal you He wants to be close to you! When I was praying and asking God to heal me I also prayed that I would always give HIM praise!! That I would exalt His name! That I would tell others what He did for me!

Let God heal your heart this morning of whatever hurts. Let God heal your body of whatever hurts. Trust in His healing hand! HE IS GOD and He has the power! Sometimes, we have to go through a season in our life when we have to cry out to God for His hand, His comfort, and His healing and that’s ok for a season. But God wants you to cry out to Him for His heart and for more of Him!! Let God heal you today! But don’t forget to PRAISE Him tomorrow!!

God has healed me not only physically but He healed me emotionally as well! To Him I am thankful and I share my story because I promised Him over and over in my prayers, that I would give Him praise!!

“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” (Jeremiah 17:14 NIV)
