Ask God…to help you everyday to walk the walk. Are you for real? Are you who you are when you are out in public the same person that you are when nobody is watching?
Christians have so many times been given the title of “Hypocrite”, of being fake. Are you saying one thing and living a different way? We cannot go to Church on Sunday and act all “Christ like” and then on Monday go back into the workplace or back into school and be a jerk to someone or use bad language. You can’t be lying to your friends and family and cheating on taxes or tests, or on your spouse or boyfriend and then ask God to bless your day. This is what gives not only you a bad name but gives Christ a bad name.
Living for Christ is a 24 hr/7 days a week lifestyle! Unfortunately some people that say they are Christians really may have never TRULY surrendered their life to Jesus. So…if they haven’t truly given their life to Jesus, they haven’t been changed from the inside out and they don’t know any better. They are just trying to act the part instead of it being a real life change. We can’t judge those people, we need to pray for them that God changes them. If they are in Church and are hearing God’s Word then maybe God will change their hearts. There are hypocrites in Church but at least they are in Church! Don’t let those people deter you from being what God wants you to be. All we really need to be concerned with is how we are reflecting the name of Jesus! Are you exalting and glorifying His name by your words and actions? Don’t point your finger at others because when you do there are three fingers pointing back at you. Whew…. Help us Lord to clean up our own backyards!!
So…ask yourself are you the same today as you were yesterday. Have you clothed yourself with the attributes of Christ? Have you sat at the feet of Jesus today? Are you listening to what He is saying to you? We are not called to be perfect but we are called to be Christlike. We have to fill ourselves up daily with more of Him so there is less of us.
I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be giving my precious Lord a bad name. I want people to know how good and kind and loving He is. You may be the only Jesus that someone sees today. How are they going to see Him?
“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:5-10, 12-14, 17 NIV)
