Ask God…to help you humble yourself. Oooh…that just doesn’t sound fun does it? Well…then ask Him to lift you up. Okay Brenda, I can probably do that since that sounds like it will benefit me. But humbling sounds like it might make me give up something that I like to do or it might make me admit that I was wrong and they were right.
What we don’t realize that when we humble ourselves we are casting our cares on God! The God that can actually do something about whatever concerns us wants to hear from us! God gave me this verse this morning and I know it was from Him because I have a heavy heart about something that I care very deeply about and really He is the only one that can do anything about it. It’s His mighty hand that can change it! In HIS DUE TIME!!
My prayer today is that I will humble myself and my concerns under the Mighty Hand of God! I trust that He in His due time will answer my prayers!! That He will do it in a way that He will be exalted and glorified!! I pray that Revival comes!
Vs 7 says “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” In my case, I am not really anxious about this situation, I am just burdened by it! No matter, if you are going through something that you are anxious about or that you just have heavy on your heart, God cares! Humble yourself and lift it up to Him and He will in turn lift you up! He hears your prayers! He cares!!
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. (1 Peter 5:6 NIV)
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”)
Ask God…for His power! What do you need God’s power for today? Do you need His power just to face your day? Maybe, you have a hard day ahead of you and just don’t know what you are going to do. Seek the power of the Cross! There is power in the Cross! There is freedom in the Cross! Seek it! Seek strength! Seek courage! Seek hope! Seek peace! Seek the salvation that only comes from the Cross! God stands ready to come to your defense when you come to Him with a heart that is fully surrendered!! A heart that wakes up saying, “I need you God! I am nothing without you!” He wants to save you from not only your sin, but He wants to save you from the fear that you face. But…we have to put our eyes on the Cross! Instead, many times we are fearful and are looking at the problem through our own power and how we can fix it, instead of looking at our problem through faith and how God can fix it. Have you asked God today to calm your fears and go before you? Have you prayed? The power of the Cross gives us the power of prayer! When Jesus died on the cross over 2000 years ago He made a way to call on His power and to have a relationship with the Creator of the World! If God has the power to create the World and to create you and me then He has the power to handle whatever concerns you today!! Seek His power!! Seek the power of the Cross!! The liberating, redeeming power of the Cross!!
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18 NIV)
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” (Romans 1:16 NIV)
Ask God…to help you manage your time better. We all have the same amount of time in every day. Exactly 24 hours. Tonight we actually lose an hour of time that we gained back in October. Spring forward…to the next season in time! As we ride up the road this morning to pick up our daughter and go to the mountains I reflect on life. The trees are all grey and it is a cool crisp morning. But…in just a few weeks or so the trees will start blooming beautiful purple, white and pink blooms and the daffodils are coming up and will turn yellow. The grass will turn a lush green again!
There has been a time in my life when I didn’t or couldn’t see the beauty of the world because all I could see was my circumstances. I never knew what was going to happen next and my heart would hurt so bad. My marriage was falling apart and everything just seemed hopeless. I was a Christian and would think to myself that “this wasn’t suppose to happen to me”. Spring forward…there is life after pain! Life is full of seasons and THIS TOO SHALL PASS!! IT DID!!
I don’t want to waste my life and just wish my life was different or wish I was something I am not. I want to be what and who God wants me to be! He has a plan specifically picked out just for me and a plan for you too! Sometimes…we have to go through a hard season but hope is found in and through Jesus Christ! He will pick your feet up and put them on solid ground. Seek Him! Trust Him!
We all have the exact same amount of time. How are you managing yours? Don’t waste what God has given you. Don’t focus on things or circumstances that you may not be able to change. The grey trees will turn to beauty and will be vibrant again, just as God wants to turn your darkness into beauty again and bring joy to your life! It’s JUST a season! Spring forward! New life is coming!!
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 15 NLT)
